Scientific Notes (700 Words) are brief reports for publication in the Proceedings of the Florida State Horticultural Society.

Please submit Scientific Notes to our FSHS Editor, Mary Lamberts at [email protected].

The idea is that the author(s) found something of interest and will publish a longer refereed paper later. In the case of an Extension author, this could be for a program that may be of interest.

Components:

  • Title
  • Author(s)
  • Affiliation(s) (Name [university, extension office, etc.}, City, State [Please include University of Florida, IFAS if that is where you work)
  • Corresponding author email
  • Keywords
  • Objectives
  • Findings
  • Suggestions for future direction
  • Literature Cited is recommended, but not mandatory unless paper(s) are cited

Page limit: 1 published page
, with the editor returning Notes that seriously exceed the word limit so the author can edit to the correct page length beforehand. Your abstract fee should cover the cost of publish a scientific note.

The recommended word count is around 700 TOTAL words (use: file>properties>statistics).
There may be a substantial additional page charge for second and subsequent pages.

Authors may add brief tables, illustrations, etc., but should reduce the number of words to accommodate these changes.
